Coach Jim Mapes, also known as Keeper Jim has been coaching youth soccer for more than 20 years in Northern California, Oregon and Washington. He has been a head coach, assistant coach and goalkeeper coach. He has honor of coaching more than 100 young soccer players. Keeper Jim started coaching after a short soccer career. He wanted to still be part of the game so the best way he could do that is to pass on his knowledge of the beautiful game to the next generation of soccer players, coaches and parents. Keeper Jim I will all ways work to bring a fresh approach to coaching while continually learning and improving.

 

 

By starting with fun and creating a process-oriented, positivity-focused

training environment that keys in on enabling individual success, children

trained by Keeper Jim achieve better athleticism, become more positive in

their approach to life,develop higher self-esteem and cultivate improved

decision making and problems solving skills. In addition, Keeper Jim uses

Plyometric and detailed technique training to help children develop the

appropriate muscles to achieve and maintain proper technique throughout

their soccer careers. As a result, in 20 years of Coaching not one of his

students has had a serious knee or ankle injury throughout their playing

careers, which includes playing into High School, College and adult soccer.

Keeper Jim relentless positivity and high energy inspires students to focus

on consistent improvement. Through his coaching, students eliminate the

thought of mistakes from their mind and learn to persevere through any

adversity. Children love coming to Keeper Jim training sessions so much

that they are upset when late or unable to attend. “Practice is over

already?” is an often-heard statement in his sessions. Keeper Jim is

looking forward to getting his United Soccer Coaches National in 2021.

Also has his national keeper licencse. He has been coaching high school

for more than 10 years. The goalkeeper coach for the boys and girls for 04,

05 and the 02, 03,04,05 for Santa Clara Sporting. Soon to work the boys

goalkeepers from Cupertino F.C. Also work with his goalkeeper with the

college recruiting process.
